What is a C Card?
A C Card is simply a plastic key fob that you can attach to your keys if you have had a discussion with your School Nurse, Youth Worker, a C Card trained professional or have completed the online C Card assessment about the use of condoms. This C Card can be exchanged for FREE condoms.
- Condoms can help prevent you from most sexually transmitted Infections (STIs) as well as one method to prevent pregnancy if used correctly
- Make sure you use a condom with a British Kite mark or CE mark
- Always check the expiry date on the condom packet
- Take care when opening a condom packet not to tear the condom
- Make sure that the condom is the right way up before rolling it on
- Squeeze the tip of the condom before rolling it onto the erect penis - this is to make sure that there is room for the sperm and air doesn't get caught in the teat
- Only use water based lubricant with condoms - oil based products such as massage oil or lipstick can cause the condom to break
- If you have had sex without a condom, you might be pregnant or have a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI). Some STIs have no symptoms so it is important that you are tested.
Fact: After chlamydia, gonorrhoea is the second most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the UK.
